Terms of Service

The Short Version

• You own your data and your generated materials. We need a license to process them for you, but the output is yours.
• AI-generated content is a starting point, not a guarantee. Review everything before you use it. We don't guarantee hiring outcomes.
• Treat the service respectfully. Don't misuse it, misrepresent AI-generated content, or try to break things.
• Either of us can end this. You can cancel anytime. We can terminate accounts that violate these terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating a MyCareerAlly account, you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't create an account.

2. Eligibility

To use MyCareerAlly, you must be at least 16 years old, provide accurate account information, and have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.

3. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. Notify us at support@mycareerally.co if you suspect unauthorized access. Each account is for individual use — sharing credentials or creating multiple accounts is not permitted.

4. What MyCareerAlly Does

MyCareerAlly provides AI-powered assistance with: building Career Highlights, assessing job fit, generating tailored resumes and cover letters, interview preparation, interview debriefs, offer evaluation and negotiation strategy, and general career guidance. Features available depend on your subscription tier.

5. Intellectual Property

You own your data. Everything you input remains your intellectual property. You own your generated materials. Resumes, cover letters, and other documents generated for you are yours to use.

By using MyCareerAlly, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to process your content solely for delivering the service. This license ends when you delete your content or account.

The MyCareerAlly platform — including its design, software, AI agent architecture, prompts, and brand elements — is our intellectual property.

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

This section is especially important.

All content generated by MyCareerAlly is AI-generated and provided as a starting point. You are responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving all generated content before using it.

MyCareerAlly does not guarantee that you will receive interviews, offers, or employment; that fit assessments accurately predict outcomes; that materials will be accepted by any employer or ATS; or that any specific career outcome will result.

AI systems can produce inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading content. If MyCareerAlly generates content that misrepresents your experience, do not use that content.

7. Acceptable Use

You may: use MyCareerAlly for your personal job search, generate and share application materials, and export your data at any time.

You may not: misrepresent AI-generated content as original work where that distinction matters, fabricate experience, use the service for others, reverse-engineer our systems, abuse the service, use it unlawfully, circumvent usage limits, or share access.

8. Subscriptions and Payments

MyCareerAlly offers free and paid tiers. Paid subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis via Stripe. You can cancel at any time — cancellation takes effect at the end of your billing cycle. Refunds are available on a case-by-case basis within 14 days. Price changes require at least 30 days' notice.

9. Account Termination

You can delete your account at any time through settings. Your data is purged per our Privacy Policy (within 30 days). We may terminate accounts that violate these terms, with reasonable opportunity to export data.

10. Limitation of Liability

MyCareerAlly is provided “as is” and “as available.” Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect damages including lost employment opportunities, income, or professional reputation.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify MyCareerAlly from claims arising from your violation of these Terms, use of generated content, or violation of third-party rights.

12. Dispute Resolution

Before formal proceedings, you agree to attempt informal resolution for at least 30 days. Unresolved disputes will be resolved through binding JAMS arbitration (conducted remotely). You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive class action participation. Either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court.

13. Modifications

We may update these Terms. We will notify active users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

14. General Provisions

These Terms and our Privacy Policy constitute the entire agreement. If any provision is found unenforceable, the remainder stays in effect. Our failure to enforce any provision does not waive our right to enforce it later.
